Funtington Goblin Club

What is Goblin Club?

The IET Formula Goblin project aims to inspire children ages 9 – 11 years old to take an interest in engineering in a fun and innovative way. The project is for children to build their very own functioning and drivable electric car. The kit comes flat packed with step by step instruction guiding the team through the build in an easy to understand manner. The build introduces children to basic mechanics and on completion they can use it at one or many of the events around the country!

At Funtington School we have our own Goblin kit car, which we have had since April 2014.  We race at around 5 events a year (from March – July) finishing with the Gathering of Goblins at Goodwood Motor Circuit, where we compete against around 80 other cars.

Goblin Club is held on term-time Saturday mornings from 10am to 12pm starting in November and running all the way through the racing season, which ends in July.

We rebuild our Goblin racing car from kit form, design and make bodywork and get ready to race against other schools. The club, run by Stuart and Ali Morgan, is open to children in Hawthorn Class only. Children are not obliged to attend club every Saturday and there is no charge – just come along and join in!
